Children First Griswold–Making Griswold a Great Place to Grow!

Children First Griswold (CFG) is a community collaborative whose members are dedicated to improving the lives of our youngest residents. Working in partnership, we have been developing a comprehensive Community Plan to serve as a guiding document to achieve a result that “All Griswold’s children are healthy, prepared and successful lifetime learners.”

It’s Time to Vote on our Budget! Come out and Support Full Day Kindergarten!!

“Research shows the importance of full-day kindergarten programs. Yet, those programs are not currently available to about 40 percent of kindergarten-aged children nationwide. As a result, many of our young learners begin first grade several steps behind their peers. Full-day kindergarten helps make sure that students build the strong base of learning they will need to succeed throughout school and life.”-National Association for Education

Mobile Food Pantry–Coming Soon!

Children First Griswold has partnered with St. Mary’s Food Pantry to coordinate a United Way/Gemma E. Moran Food Pantry pilot program which aims to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to Griswold. We hope to kick off the program, which will be a monthly event, on May 15th. The van will be located at St. Mary’s Church, and although planning is still underway, we know we need 10 volunteers for a three hour period of time once a month to set up tables and food, sign people in, distribute food and clean up. “Farmer’s Market” style Griswold Public Schools  and a host of other healthcare providers to bring a Mobile Health Van to our town. Click here if you are interested or would like to learn more.

Our meetings are open to ALL and we invite you to join us to learn more. We meet the first Friday of every month from 9:30-11:30am in the PreK conference room of Griswold High School.  Childcare is available. To attend, or for more information, contact us.

Why We Do What We Do?

“Learning starts in infancy, long before formal education begins, and continues throughout life. Early learning begets later learning and early success breeds later success, just as early failure breeds later failure.” (James J. Heckman)
